"Glee" surpasses The Beatles with more hits singles

It’s official: Glee is bigger than the Beatles. That’s right, owing largely to their Britney Spears-themed episode, the show has six new entries on Billboard’s Hot 100 this week, which means Glee has surpassed The Beatles 40-year-old record for most total singles on the chart. The cast of the show have 75 total chart entries compared to 71 for the Fab four. In fact, only Elvis Presley and James Brown have scored more hits than the cast of the TV show. Seriously.

Five of the new entries to the show came from the Spears episode, including “Toxic,” which made the show’s highest debut at Number 16. In case you can already see pigs taking flight outside, keep in mind that all of Glee’s singles have stayed on the charts for just 105 weeks combined, while the Beatles’ 71 singles spent 617 weeks (the equivalent of almost twelve years) on the charts.
