Black Eyed Peas hope for new album by end of year

Black Eyed Peas fans, get excited. The “biggest group on the planet” will likely release a new album before the end of the year. The pop group played Good Morning America last week, where they performed “I Gotta Feeling” and “Boom Boom Pow,” and also revealed that they are working on a follow-up to The E.N.D.

The band, who drew “the largest crowd ever” for GMA’s Summer Concert series in Central Park, did a short interview on the program. In the interview, will.i.am said, “We were up late recording so we’re functioning off of energy, period. Energy and excitement.” The recording will.i.am is referring to is apparently for the band’s new record, tentatively titled The Beginning (The B.E.G.I.N.N.I.N.G.?). will.i.am said of the title, “It symbolizes growth, new beginnings and starts, fresh new perspective.”

The Black Eyed Peas also recently became the first band to have a song achieve six million downloads. That’s right, “I Gotta Feeling” has been download six million times. In an interview with the Associated Press, will.i.am, in his usually humble manner, said, “We came out in ‘98 and our career, if you would look at it on chart, there’s no dips in it. For our career to still be healthy and vibrant and doing things like 6 million downloads, it’s pretty significant. It’s a positive, feel-good song at the time where there’s question marks and uncertainty. People want to be reminded that it’s going to be all right.”by:Emily Zemler
