DMX return to jail

DMX is back in jail and no one seems to be exactly sure which charge landed him there. The rapper, who was recently released from a jail in Arizona where he was serving time for violating probation, turned himself in yesterday in Los Angeles to begin serving a 90-day sentence. There are conflicting reports as to what this sentence is for, however.

DMX’s lawyer, Aja Southern, told MTV News that this jail time was for a reckless driving charge the rapper got in 2002. Southern said DMX was forced to delay his sentence and is now serving time for that charge. TMZ is reporting that the rapper actually violated the terms of his probation after that 2002 charge and that is why he’s back behind bars. According to the Associated Press, the Los Angeles judge ruled that DMX cannot be released early from this sentence and will serve all 90 days.

DMX, whose legal name is Earl Simmons, has had a lot of issues with the law in recent years (which is an understatement), but Southern has assured the public that the MC is back on track to becoming a good citizen. “Mr. Simmons is here today to fully cooperate with respect to any matters of the Court’s concern,” Southern said in a statement. “This is one of many steps towards rebuilding his image and rapport with the community and his loyal fans.”by : Emily Zemler
